Lives and Money, The Need to Control Access to Fixed Ladders. The mentally-deranged person who jumps from a smokestack, the vandal who slips from a water tank, the thrill-seeker who freezes on a ladder and then falls, all die or suffer injury unnecessarily. The danger of fixed ladders is part of their attraction which adds new names to the list of dead each year. Each year, municipalities find themselves forced to lay out thousands of dollars to repair the damage caused by vandals using the ladders to gain access to unauthorized area. Graffiti on a water tank isn't a joking matter to the municipal official who has to find funds for repainting. Although liability may be questionable and insurance may pay damages awarded for wrongful death actions involving fixed ladders, no municipality may be immune from the hidden costs of court defenses, nor from a moral obligation to prevent such occurrences.

The Cost of Control Isn't What It Used To Be. Fixed ladders exist, of course, to provide access for personnel to areas where their services may be required. Until recently, devices or systems which allowed easy access to authorized personnel while effectively preventing unauthorized use, were too costly or too complicated to install for many communites. Ladder Gate Works With Your Lock and Keys. Anyone with a key can use Ladder Gate®. (But you must have a key.) No special equipment is needed. An authorized person simply unlocks the padlock on Ladder Gate, swings the shielding gate aside and has unhampered access to the ladder. Everything needed is provided with Ladder Gate® except a padlock and keys.

Permanent Control. The shielding door of Ladder Gate® is heavy-gauge, rust proof aluminum. All braces and hardware are fabricated from galvanized heavy-gauge steel. Although installation is simple, Ladder Gate®, once in place, can be a permanent device, with little or no maintenance required.

Installation. Ladder Gate® can be installed in an hour or two by two unskilled personnel. A ladder may help installation but is usually not necessary. No welding, cutting or alterations are required on most ladders. The only tools needed are wrenches to bolt Ladder Gate® to the ladder.
